A Note of Appreciation
Ryan Borrowko, an alumnus of Eston College (pictured with his new bride Alison), has helped the college with IT needs for over seven years.
We are very grateful for his dedication and hard work. Thank you for running cables, tweaking servers, and taking our frantic phone calls any time of day or night. You truly are a behind-the-scenes servant. Introducing Nathan Tymos...We would like to introduce our new IT wiz, Nathan Tymos.
Nathan is passionate about God and passionate about helping people use technology for the glory of God. We asked Nathan to tell us a few things about himself: I started administering my first computer network in 2002 at the age of 12 for Sonrise Church. Since 2005 I have been leading the Technology ministry at Sonrise Church. The greatest reward for me is helping others leverage technology to its full potential. During high school, I was the onsite computer and sound technician for Fraser Valley Christian High (now Surrey Christian Secondary) and was the only student allowed to answer a cellphone during class--most of the time it was one of the teachers needing some help with their computer. In my spare time I travelled to China, Hungry, and Africa to teach basic computer skills, website development, and introduction to computer networking. In 2012, my Dad and I took 25 laptops donated by Fully Managed along with two projectors to Zimbabwe, Africa. We taught a computer training workshop to the local ACOP pastors and equipped many of the leaders of local orphanages with laptops and internet access. The pastors learned Word, Excel, and access email, along with some other tips and tricks. This was my first experience teaching a class where a mother was breast-feeding her baby in the front row. (For more info on this trip click here). The highlight of this trip and the most rewarding of my IT career was teaching 48 orphans (from 8 -16 years of age) how to use a computer for the first time. We introduced them to MS paint and enjoyed seeing the many drawings they created. After graduating from high school, I attended British Columbia Institute of Technology and completed a two year Diploma of Technology. I remained at BCIT for another 2 years to complete a Bachelor of Technology in Network Administration and Security & Database Administration. I graduated with distinction in 2012. Two months after graduation, I attended the ACOP biennial conference; it was here that God put a call in my heart to attend Eston College. In February I came to the Encounter weekend at the college and got multiple confirmations from God that I was supposed to enrol for the fall. I am looking forward to serving the college in multiple ways: from leading the IT ministry to working on various events. My hope is to lift the burden of IT off other staff members allowing them to focus on their ministry. I am very excited about how God has arranged everything for me to come to Eston in the fall and am looking forward to being mentored and teaching other students interested in technology. Alumni News
