Bronwen Myers - A Testimony from WAT:
This summer I (Bronwen Myers), along with Kathy Goudy, Emma Deforest, Ben Pullar, and Jo-Anne Pullar (our team leader), were blessed with the opportunity to travel to South Korea on a mission trip (WAT). Our team partnered with Onyou Song (a former ESL student of Eston College) and her church to organize a Vacation Bible School for children, grades 1-6. Onyou and her church had already accomplished much before we arrived—building a curriculum, scheduling, and advertising. There were 71 students enrolled, nearly 60% non-Christian. Most of the team members were billeted and this provided a unique opportunity for fellowship, even with the language barrier.
During the week, our team was stretched and tested as we presented the Word of God. We taught Bible stories and explained God’s love. Near the end of the week, Jo-Anne shared the gospel with the entire class. A translator ensured the kids fully understood. There was full agreement that what we saw and experienced of the Korean church was, indeed, overwhelming. The people are passionate for the unsaved and devote themselves wholeheartedly to evangelism. Out of their deep love for their oppressed neighbours, they cry out to God to establish peace between their own nation and North Korea. Their prayers were most humbling. Although I could not understand their words, their ability to effectively gain direct access to the Lord was unmistakable. God heard and hears their prayers. Finally, I know I am not alone in saying that I was deeply touched by the generosity, care, and friendship of each person. Our time in Korea has changed our lives and we pray for the continuance of the release of His Holy Spirit in that country. September Mini Semester:
