How God is Working Through Eston College:
Eston College is a very busy place these days. We just wrapped up Encounter Senior High Weekend and said goodbye to more than 250 young people who joined us for three days of worship and seeking the Lord. Those in attendance either had a genuine encounter with the Saviour or were encouraged to examine His claims as the Son of God. The best way to sum it all up is wonderful, absolutely wonderful! Here are some reports from people who have been impacted by the ministry of Eston College recently.
Larry Moore, the AYMI director, shared the following thoughts about Encounter in the AYMI prayer letter: “I just returned from a youth event at Eston College...It was amazing. I believe this ‘event’ was a winner because the college invited Jesus Himself to attend via His Holy Spirit—He accepted the invitation. A significant number of students accepted Christ as their Saviour or rededicated their lives to Him. Further, there were many physical healings, worship that would inspire the angels, dancing in His presence, in-fillings of the Holy Spirit, deliverances, and on and on. The ‘attraction’ this weekend for those in attendance was the Shekinah glory of the Lord.” Like Larry, many are affirming the ministry of our students. For example, just recently our Gideon’s Call musical team was on tour for about a week and returned with reports of seeing God’s sovereign hand at work. Ron Stone, the pastor of Parkdale Grace Fellowship in Calgary, had this to say about our Gideon’s Call team:
“Thank you so much for making Gideon’s Call available to our church. The team...did an excellent job of ministry. Their music was very well done and God-honouring, with sensitivity to God and to their audience. I was very encouraged and impressed with their mini-worship workshop. The instruction was very Biblical, Christ-centered and very practical; our musicians came away with much useful input. ...The members of Gideon’s Call far exceeded our expectations and even our hopes. They were excellent, first rate ambassadors for Jesus Christ and for Eston College.” GO Discipleship just returned from spending a week at Cowessess First Nation in eastern Saskatchewan, ministering primarily to children and youth. Nicole Bear, the coordinator for the mission, shared these words about her time with the Go students:
“I was really impressed with the GO team. The students were professional and had a deep understanding and compassion for people. It was a blessing to experience God working through their many acts of kindness. Even though they had a limited understanding of the past injustices we have suffered, they were able to build relationships with people in our community in a positive, loving and real way. Although the Cowessess community is undergoing difficult change, the students ‘trucked’ right along and served faithfully. Thanks for sharing your lives with us. We felt truly blessed and value the friendships that were forged. Hats off to the Eston team!” Music from EncounterThe songs we sang at Encounter have been compiled into a playlist which you can access below, or at this dedicated web page: Encounter Worship 2014.
