Connilea and I graduated from Eston in 2009 after obtaining our associate diplomas. Before meeting at the college, we had both been involved in local and overseas missions. While attending Eston our love for the Lord grew as did our love for the lost. It didn't take long before this turned into a life-changing, six week mission trip to the Philippines. Eston College also was instrumental in helping us build a stronger biblical foundation and forging some long lasting friendships. While there we were challenged to intelligently articulate our faith while engaging in practical hands-on ministry.
Since leaving Eston, many things have changed for us—we feel a bit like nomads. In the 4 years of our married life we have lived in 3 different provinces and 4 different houses. Most of those moves allowed us to finish some extra post-secondary education so that we could be better trained for the mission field. I have now finished school and am working in a hospital in Edmonton and my wife, Connilea, is working in a church focused on serving the homeless in the downtown area. Although constantly moving has proven difficult, it has been a blessing in that we are more prepared for an overseas move in the near future.
Our current plans are to become accredited as ACOP missionaries. We will be leaving for the Philippines in 2 years and intend to work with a local organization called Well of Life, in Davao City. While not everything is perfectly clear at this point, we do know that God has asked us to go and our desire is to be obedient!
Our encouragement to you is that no matter what God is calling you to, at whatever age you are, you can do what He empowers you to do! Follow the dreams He has given you, but more importantly LOVE GOD FIRST, for He first loved us!
