It is Friday, June 6th and I have just had a most amazing encounter with the Spirit of God. As a result, I want to invite you to pray with me.
The morning started with me clearly recalling three successive dreams I had in which I had met with folks from three different unreached people groups. Ironically all this happened as I was preparing for a mission to a mostly unreached country. Not immediately understanding the interpretation, I put the dreams on the shelf and thanked God, waiting for the interpretation.
Independent of the dream, I had had been hearing God speaking all morning. He was saying, “Today is a day to pray for the awakening and sending of spiritual warriors equipped in prayer and mission. There is sensitivity in the unseen realm to grab hearts and raise people up to radical roles of commitment, sacrifice, faith, and anointing. Today is a day to pray, ‘Lord of the Harvest, throw labourers into your harvest field!’”
It wasn’t long and things started to become clear. Today is the 70th anniversary of the D-Day assault on Normandy; the day the tide of WWII was turned against the enemy. Victory came at great cost to the men that were sent to establish a beachhead and take back ground the enemy was occupying. I knew that this was no coincidence! As I continued to listen, I believe I heard the Father saying that today is a day of breakthrough for sending missionaries to unreached people groups.
As I continued to pray, the Spirit brought to my attention Luke 10:1-12, one of the passages regarding the “Lord of the Harvest.” Jesus sends 70 disciples with the message of the Kingdom! Again, no coincidence! My response was to start praying for 70 new missionaries to be raised up and sent to the nations.
Then, in the early afternoon the Spirit pointed out Genesis 10-11, a passage in which 70 nations – representing all the nations of the earth at that time – are established. One of the key verses says, “From these the coastland people of the gentiles were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.” This is the first time in Scripture that the prophetic promise of Revelation 7:9 begins to unfold: “I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb.” Still again, no coincidence!
I believe the word of the Lord is pointing out that today is the beginning of a new battle campaign in the Spirit, and that He wants us to intercede for people to be raised up as missionaries to every unreached people group on earth. 70 sent apostles to 70 nations.
The dream makes sense in that the Lord is offering to give those willing to go the “Macedonian Call” and providential encounters with people from unreached people groups so they too can be ushered to their Gospel-calling. I am inviting you to pray about this with me today. If you know people that co-labour in prayer, please feel free to forward the story and a request to pray!
